Shooting Script

Below is our shooting script that we will use when making our music video.  Here shows the procedures that we will take when shooting each scene such as how long the scene will be, who will be in it, whats happening and what camera language will be used. This is so the process of making our music video will be well structured and not rushed.

Job List

This here are the job roles that i have assigned myself and myles that we will have to do throughout the making of the music video. We also included the reason why we have this specific job role to show tat we have an understanding on what we are doing and that we play a big part in the making of our music video.

Production Log Week 8

This week we continued and began finalising our shooting scripts so that we were prepared and ready to begin filming our music video in certain locations. Also, in this week myself and myles will begin to take pictures in the location we ant to use for both our magazine cover and digi packs. We've decided to do it on the stairs with me and Ervin lying on the ground to show that Myles is a murder   and will feature the title Ketchup Killer at top of both the magazine and digi packs that we will be creating. The software that we was taught this week and will use for editing  both our magazine covers and digi packs is a software called Photoshop which this week we was taught the basics on how to crop images and edit them if needed.

Flat Pans

Here are the flat plans that myself and Myles had created to market our production for our music video Ketchup Killer by James Oakwood. Here you can see the design and idea we have come up with when producing this music video. These  are our magazine front cover and digi packs that ww will use when promoting our music video. We did a rough sketch on what we would want and what we think our target audience would be appealed to.

These are the first drafts of our flat plans that we had made without using nay colour to see how it would look as a advertisement. We will add colour to these as our second draft so we can make it more appealing for our  target audience. Red is the primary colour that i will use for my flat pans because as the colour red connotes danger and anger which are two themes to our music video as a whole and blood is also red so we wanted to show that.

Production Log Week 7

This week, we began the pre-production phase for our music video that we will making based on the music video Ketchup Killer by James Oakwood. We started with writing our shooting scripts which featured which shots we were going to take, for how long, what location, who will be involved and what equipment/props will be needed and why. We have yet to finish our shooting scripts but i would say we have got really far in the short time we've had to complete these shooting scripts to a high standard. Alongside our shooting scripts i also took photos of the locations we were going to use which was a  kitchen, a small classroom and a dark room to show the characters emotions in a variety of different ways.

Production Log Week 6

In this week we began the pre-production phase for our main music video that we will be making with myself and my partner Myles. The first thing we did was create a magazine front cover showing off our band and who the special appearance would be to try and get our target audience of 16-24 year olds to come and listen to our song Ketchup Killer by James Oakwood. Along with our magazine cover before we had to create a pitch via powerpoint saying all the things we will be using in our music video, who will be in it, the plot and why we chose this son. Which i felt went really well on my behalf with getting feedback that will allow me to make necessary improvements
to make my music video better.  On my magazine cover which i designed i decided to show the main character (Myles) surrounded by ketchup and two images beside him of myself and Ervin laying in a pool of blood which strongly relates to the plot of our music video.

3 Music Video Analysis

Eminem - Without Me

The first music video that I will be analysing is the Eminem without me music video. In this music video the editing techniques that this tends to use to make this music video engaging is the use of jump cuts and fade to blacks to make the scene more effective when appealing to its audience. A section where a ump cut is used is when the artist Eminem is dressed up as a super hero and takes the CD away from the kid as it is not suitable for him. I think the artist did this to so he can keep the action flowing and not making it dull by having the editing being slow because it may not be as effective when it comes to engaging his target audience.

The narrative of this music video is basically showing how a super hero (the artist Eminem) is fighting crime and preventing under age kids listening to this style of music because he understands that in real life situations where young kids uses slang words to their parents and others is inspired though rap music videos so he is trying to stop that. Furthermore, due to the majority of this music video set in a comic book this an example of a parody because they're showing a comedy side to this music video to make it engaging for his desired target audience which i think if 15-20 year olds. Lastly, some camera language that is used is a low shot when you see Eminem solo rapping this is so they can portray him as being a big figure and through using a low angle it makes him seem very big to the audience even though he's not that big in real life. Another camera language which is used is a camera movement called pan movement left to right. This is done with the artist dressed as a super hero about to enter the house this is so he can show the audience his surroundings and what kind of life there is.

Martin Garrix - Animals

This is a music video called Animals and was created by the artist Martin Garrix. This is a very unusual music video for the dubstep genre of music. Throughout the music video you see a lot of performers wearing animal masks this is to show a relation between the title of the song and what is happening within it. This is something music videos do often and to use animal masks as their costumes it shows their innovative side which makes this music video more engaging.  Also, in this music video you see people raving to the song which is something you would expect from dubstep because its that style of music that gets people moving.

This style of this music video is a narrative which is basically showing what certain actions lead to when at a rave and shows the good and bad sides of this by showing multiple situations. They also show how the modern day rave is and compare it to how it was years ago by adding the animal mask to make it more engaging and appealing to the audience. Although some viewers may find this intimidating because as they are hiding their face in anima mask it could show them as a threat to society when raving. However, i don't see this as the case as i just see people having fun and socialising with one another and by adding the fact of wearing animal masks may make it that little better when engaging their target audience.

Imagine Dragons - Radioactive

The third and last music video that i will be analysing is called Radioactive and is performed by the well known band Imagine Dragons. In this music video through the use of  a lot of jump cuts at the beginning showing situations with both a make and female being alone and expressing their emotions. ;after on in the video you see the male performer bang the drum at the sound of the beat to release his anger through music as he sees it as a way of showcasing his emotions. At the beginning of the video they use a long shot then a close up showing the female performer lost and looking for somewhere to go, i think they use these camera angles in this situation to show how vulnerable she is when they show the male performer to seem to be more control of his situation.

The narrative of this music video is basically showing what effect gambling and playing a dangerous game can do to a person or people as they show the main performer as we see him alone in a dark room which can suggest depression and anger on the characters behalf. Furthermore, as they are using puppets or animals to show violence i see this giving a negative impact on their target audience as because they are showing animal cruelty although it isn't real but it can be interpreted in the wrong way. Than how the artists want to show it, this is why i think the narrative of this music video is a bit confusing  but its good enough to keep myself and most likely their target audience engaged throughout the music video.
