The artist that made the song that i will basing my music video around is a man named James Oakwood. He tends to be laid back, well rounded and your normal guy when it comes to creating his own music. He is also represented as the usual indie rock artist by the songs he makes and how his song effects his target audience.
My target audience is 14-19 year olds, this is because my aim for this music video is to show that teenagers are not alone when they are dealing with stress and that there are other ways to dealing with it and overcoming problems. What I know about this target audience is that they tend to have a lot of stress in their life due to school and friendship problems which can cause them to change their attitude. A way that i will try and make my music video appealing to my target audience is by making my music video mainly based on the parody side to make my music video engaging and can have the message i want to send out clear and understandable.
My plan for my music video is basically to show a character going crazy and killing people with ketchup and going through stress disorder throughout the music video. I will also try and get others to help him with dealing with it but it won't work and at the end i plan to leave it on a cliffhanger so people can question and want to find out what happens next so that my music video can be remembered and talked about more because of my cliffhanger. In my music video i will use a variety of mise-en-scene, firstly the props that i have decided to use for the production and post production of my music video will be ketchup, camera, tripod, apple mac computer and a few softwares.. The clothing that the characters that will wear is casual clothes this is so that i can have my characters relate to my target audience who tends to wear casual clothes outside of education. I have also created a Digi pak and a magazine cover showing my artist and myself with my group members to advertise my music video and i intend to use primary colours but nothing too bright to make it appealing to my target audience. This represents my artist because as his main source of music is indie pop then my music video could be similar in terms of the music and clothing used to relate to my artist and my target audience at the same time.
For filming of the music video i will be mainly using a camera and if needed tripod to ensure i can get all the camera language (shots and angles) to make my music video stand out and make it engaging for my target audience to want to keep watching and to prevent them from getting bored easily by using only one camera shot for the whole music video. For the editing section of my music video i will use a software called final cut pro to ensure my music video is at it's best and will attract my audience in multiple ways. On this software i will make sure the lighting and editing terminology such as jump cuts are used correctly and to an effect that will keep my target audience watching and understand the message i am trying to give. Also, in the editing part of my production i may have to re-film some scenes if the first time wasn't good enough the first time so i may ave to change the camera angle and edit the lighting to make the whole music video better and that all scenes are filmed to a high standard.
The locations that I have decided that I will use for this music video is in a variety of places so a park, kitchen, school and Tesco's. this is because i feel that my target audience would find it funny if some killing scenes took place in odd and unusual locations that you wouldn't expect normally. The second location I've decided to use is in a corridor, this is where most of the action will take place because corridors tend too have tight spaces and to have the character there would be ideal because we get to show him freaking out due to him being claustrophobic. The third and final location that i have decided to use for this music video is a small room, this is so the character can show his feelings more effectively because rooms is where i see my target audience spends most of their time stressed so i could show a similarity between my target audience and the character. I tend to shoot my scenes on weekends because during the week i will be focusing on revising and finishing coursework and won't really have much time to focus on it so on the weekend if i have free time i will try and get my group and characters involved to shoot he scenes that we have planned. I will need permission from my artist James Oakwood to ensure i can use the song in my music video so he knows i use his song for good intentions and not any bad intentions. It is also important to ensure the planning and organisation is at it's best because we don't want to be rushing anything in the last minute and might mess up some scenes which won't be good for me.
