Production Log Week 18

Continuing on from last week, the way we had to do this part of the evaluation was talking about every aspect of our music video and put it over our current music video to show how we challenged the forms and conventions of real media products. We also had to re-shoot some lines because we wasn't very clear with what we were saying and we didn't make much sense in some of the things we talked about so we had to re-shoot this so the whole evaluation of our music video looks better. We also had to make sure that what we were saying went right with the scenes we were showing and the examples of the music videos we used are shown when we are talking about them so our audience can understand what we're referring to and discussing.

Production Log Week 17

In this week of Media studies we was taught and shown a step-by-step guide on how to do our evaluation and what specific things we had to do. The first part of our evaluation featured the brief, this consisted of saying what our task was, the name of our song, why we chose the song and how we had engaged and appealed to our target audience. This part of our evaluation is short but very important as it goes towards and final grade and it also gives the examiner a over look to what we had to and what our music video is about. Also, in this week we were told what to write for our second part of our evaluation and it was to answer the question In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?.

Production Log Week 16

After our post production work we started our 5 part evaluation so we can say what we did good and what we can improve on in the future. The purpose of these evaluations is so i can show what skills i have gained, what i have learnt and using all the skills learnt in the past to make my final production in media studies with my partner myles. This had to be the best music video we had ever made because after 2 years of studying this subject and learning everything we needed to know to do with filming. Our music video should be top quality and our evaluation will enable to me to say what we did well and what we could of done differently or better.

Production Log Week 15

This week we began finalising our digipaks and magazine cover for our song Ketchup Killer. We began this after we was happy with our final production of our music video Ketchup Killer by James Oakwood. Our digipaks consisted of 6 sections which are designs, track list, picture of the artist and other things that you would expect to see on a  digipak we had to ensure all images and design is on point and appealing to our target audience. Similar situation with our magazine cover although we didn't need to make 6 of them. On our magazine cover included date of release, song title, picture of the artist, where the song can be found, basically important info that would make a song persuasive to listen to.

Production Log Week 14

In this week myself and Myles began finalising our editing and finishing off our music video which we had filmed. Whilst finalising our editing part in the post production work we also began using a software called photo shop  began making our digipak and magazine advert for our artist James Oakwood. Before we began making our digipak we were taught the basics and some advanced stuff within photo shop which would enable us to make the best and most appealing also engaging advert and promotion of our music video. From using and being taught photo shop i learned some new things this week within photo shop because before today i have never used this software before so it was good to learn something new.

Evaluation Part One - Brief

We were given the task to choose a song from MP3 unsigned website which we would then create a music video for. My partner in this task was Myles and despite only having two members whilst other groups had three we had a slight disadvantage but i feel like we did very well in the end.]with only having two members. The artist was a man named James Oakwood and since he had created a lot of engaging and i thought appealing songs I had spent a long time deciding which song would be best for me. So jumping to conclusion, that song I chose for me and Myles was called Ketchup Killer.

Immediately, from the title of the song I knew i didn't want our music video to be taken seriously because the title Ketchup Killer is not something i can tell our intended target audience which is 14-19 year olds would laugh if saw this song title.  So i thought actually using a ketchup bottle and ketchup as the murder weapon was good to make this music video engaging and appealing to our target audience. The music genre that Ketchup Killer is within is Indie Pop, some examples of signed and current Indie Pop artists involves; AJR, Lily Allen, Ellie Goulding, Vampire Weekend and many other artists that produce similar style of music to our artist James Oakwood. The main thing that attracted me to this song and the artist James Oakwood himself was the fact that this song was something very unique and different to what i'm used to due to elements that this song has such as the constant beat to the song which makes it more interesting and better overall. Also, the fact that the song was called Ketchup Killer immediately attracted me for this song because i knew we could create somewhat of a comedy from this song which i think we did very well with due to the killings that were shown and the general story line we created.

Production Log Week 13

This week was the week we started editing most of the scenes we already filmed and put them in the correct order we want them to. By the end of this week we had about 1 minute and 20 seconds left to film. So we planned to finish off our filming on the weekend and have everything completed by next week. Also, i decided to cut some scenes to be shorter and add a more brighter light effect on the scene to make it more appealing and engaging to our target audience. We also made a checklist of tasks we needed to do to ensure our music video was to the best quality as possible and we were very clear on what we wanted to do so we could always be organised.

Production Log Week 12

This is the week where we began filming our first few scenes that we had planned we would shoot. This involved one of the ketchup killing scenes, Myles showing his emotion and reactions, Myself trying to see if he's ok with what is happening. With extra bits adding in between as well such as some lip syncing scenes to make the music video see realistic and can make the storyline more understandable and relatable to the character we are trying to portray to our target audience of 14-19 year olds. Also, this week consisted of us getting permission to use some locations because we was going to make a mess in some areas which we would eventually clean up but just wanted to make sure we could use these locations so we wouldn't get into trouble.

Production Log Week 11

In this week of Media Studies this involved myself and Myles coming up with our final decisions of what, who and where we will film for our music video Ketchup Killer. This involved me and Myles coming up with a lot of scenes and camera shots we were going to use to ensure our music video went along with the beat. Because the song has a lot of beat to it throughout the song which is important for us to get right so it looks good and not off time. Also we had to think ahead and when we edit how we want the scenes to fit with the music video.
